Clothbound privacy policy

Clothbound is a private friendship album. It is built to know as little as possible about you.

What is stored

• Pages: the text a writer writes, the writer's signed name, the open condition, an optional opening line, and timestamps. Page text is encrypted at rest on our servers and is only ever decrypted for the book's owner, after the owner opens the page.
• Books: the recipient's first name as typed by the first writer, the title, cover choice, dedication line, and settings.
• Keys: a random device identifier for writers, and for owners a random owner key stored on your device and a hashed recovery code on our servers. There are no accounts, passwords, emails, or phone numbers.
• Reports: when an owner reports a page, the page id and optional reason are kept so we can review it.

Who can see what

Only the owner of a book can read its pages. Writers see only the book's title, cover, the names of other writers, and whether their own page has been opened. The owner is never told when a sealed page is opened by anyone else, and a blocked writer is not told they were blocked. There is no feed, no search, and no public profile.

Abuse and takedowns

Clothbound has zero tolerance for abusive, threatening, or hateful content. Every owner can remove any page and block its writer at any time. Reports and takedown requests sent to zandrews77@hotmail.com are acted on within 24 hours.

Your data is yours

Owners can export every opened page as plain text at any time and can delete the whole book, permanently, from the Keep screen. Nothing you received is ever held behind a payment.

Purchases

The optional Keepsake unlock (extra covers and a print layout) is handled by Apple and RevenueCat. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user id and purchase receipts so the unlock can be restored on your devices. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.

Where data lives

Data is stored on Cloudflare's network. We do not sell data, run ads, or use analytics trackers. Crash and usage statistics are limited to what Apple provides with your consent.

Children

Clothbound is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child's data has been stored, email us and we will delete it.
